Oh, and more on that... fuck you, Joe Scarborough. Medicare isn't "going bankrupt." A government program doesn't "go bankrupt," it just needs more funding. Yes, as more people enter Medicare, we need to put more money into Medicare. And if none of us are wasting money on profit-based insurance, we can put a little more tax money in for Medicare.

I would be surprised if Betsy McCaughey honestly believes that Obama wants to kill old people, but I think there are plennnnnty of rank n' rile Republicans who think it's real. Note: I just wrote rank n' rile by mistake, but it's the kind of awesome mistake that I daren't correct.

I don't think anyone honestly believes the bit about killing old people. Like you said, the idea of the Obama administration wanting to kill the elderly is such a ludicrous idea it's not even worth discussing. It's just a scare tactic, and a massively cynical one being waged by people who damn well know better.

I agree. This is perhaps Stewart's finest moment.

This woman clearly thought that Stewart was a rube who wouldn't be prepared by actually reading the part of the bill that they were discussing. Well, Stewart was discussing it. McCaughey was just making sh@t up.

Every claim she made was exposed as BS as soon as the actual text of the bill was read aloud. And still, people believe this crap.
